Sintra

€ 210,00 / unit

SINTRA

Romântico, jardins exuberantes, montanhas imponentes e palácios escondidos pela floresta.

Distância do hotel: 30km

Tempo: 35 min

Medieval, cobbled, walled village and home to famous Ginginha aperitive .

Surrounded by a classic crenellated wall, Óbidos´gorgeous historic centre is a Labyrinth of cobblestoned streets and flower-bedecked, white washed houses livened up dashes of vivid yellow adn blue paint.  It´s a delightful place to pass an afternoon, but there are plenty of reasons to stay overnight, there are excellent accommodation options including a hilltop castle now converted into one of Portugal's most luxurious pousadas (upmarket hotels)

Hill-Town aficionados looking to savour

Journey:

Theere are two routes to Sintra, the direct highway and the scenic route winding along the Atlantic coast line.  We recommend depending on the time of day you go to take one route there and the other back.  The highway is 30 minutes and the scenic takes an hour.

Lunch:

There are a number of choices in the village or we can recommend you some of our favourites.

Nazaré

€ 240,00 / unit

NAZARÉ

Old Atlantic fishing village.  Home to the largest wave in the world, to real fishermen and lovers of the wild Atlantic.

Distance from the hotel: 121km

Time to get there: 1h 30min

Suggested length of trip: 8hrs

Description:

Nazaré is home to fishermen, and most famously to fisherwomen.  The traditional Nazaré fisherman´s wives, nearly always dressed in black reminding us of the danger of fishing the North Atlantic.  Many of Nazaré´s sons werew responsible for fishing the Newfoundland cod banks off Boston.  The Phoenicians are reputed to have got as far as Nazare and their high-prowed narrow fishing boats designed to break out of the surf are a testimony to that legacy.

A small typical and very old fishing town, Nazaré is charming and well worth the visit.

More recently Nazaré has become a surf destination, but only for the professionals, as Nazaré boasts the largest wave in the world, and the place where McNamara spends his winters in search of breaking his own record.

Journey:

Highway almost all the way and on teh way one drives close to Obidos, should you want to stop off for a coffee.

Lunch:

There are a number of choices in the village although we tend to eat at ´Casa Pires´or ´A Tasquinha´
