Portugal is our passion.
Lisbon´s pretty beauty and unique light, our food and wine, the breath-taking coastline, the serene countryside, and above all the simplicity and gentleness of our Atlantic home. We take great pleasure in revealing the special places that we ourselves fo to for our own weekends, for our own dinners, and our lunches.
Some are a bit off the beaten track and may best require the day, others are more simple and are possible to visit in one morning or afternoon with a return before or after lunch at the location. All adventures are made easy and more enjoyable with our resident driver Kevin.

Distance from the hotel: 121km
Time to get there: 1h 30min
Suggested length of trip: 8hrs
Description:
Nazaré is home to fishermen, and most famously to fisherwomen. The traditional Nazaré fisherman´s wives, nearly always dressed in black reminding us of the danger of fishing the North Atlantic. Many of Nazaré´s sons werew responsible for fishing the Newfoundland cod banks off Boston. The Phoenicians are reputed to have got as far as Nazare and their high-prowed narrow fishing boats designed to break out of the surf are a testimony to that legacy.
A small typical and very old fishing town, Nazaré is charming and well worth the visit.
More recently Nazaré has become a surf destination, but only for the professionals, as Nazaré boasts the largest wave in the world, and the place where McNamara spends his winters in search of breaking his own record.
